Types of appraisals, what they cost and how to find a qualified appraiser.
Pricing & value
Insurance appraisals use replacement value (usually the highest), fair market value is used for donations and estates, and liquidation value for quick sales.
Choose an appraiser accredited by a recognized body such as the American Society of Appraisers, the Appraisers Association of America or the International Society of Appraisers.
Reputable appraisers charge a flat or hourly fee — never a percentage of the appraised value.
