How art valuation works
Types of valuations, what they cost and how to find a qualified valuer.
Pricing & value
Insurance valuations use replacement value (usually the highest), fair market value is used for donations and estates, and liquidation value for quick sales.
Choose a valuer accredited by a recognised body such as the American Society of Appraisers, the Appraisers Association of America or the International Society of Appraisers.
Reputable valuers charge a flat or hourly fee — never a percentage of the assessed value.
